The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Town’s infrastructure.
The Roads Division is responsible for the maintenance of the municipal road system, storm sewers, stormwater management ponds, sidewalks, parking lots and streetlights. In addition, the Division works in cooperation with the County of Simcoe Environmental Services Department on waste management and recycling programs. The administration of the Corporation’s fleet of vehicles and equipment is also the responsibility of the Roads Division.
The Utilities Division is responsible for the operation of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems for Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham to Ministry of Environment Certificate of Approval standards. The operation and maintenance of three (3) sewage treatment plants, the Alliston and Regional plants in Alliston, as well as one (1) treatment plant in Tottenham, are the responsibility of Utilities staff, in addition to all pumping stations and reservoirs. Each facility is operated and maintained in accordance with Certificate of Approval standards as issued by the Ministry of Environment.
